on prayer

The biggest challenge of the Christian life is probably the challenge to pray consistently-- to cultivate that discipline of daily spending time before our Lord and to seek his face before we see the world. We know the big difference it makes whenever we start our days right with God, and yet often we find it so very tough to get out of bed a little earlier to keep that morning appointment with God. Lately God has been encouraging me to pray more consistently everyday and i just wanna share some quotes on prayer that i'd received in my inbox recently.. Hope it encourages you to start praying too!

“ I would rather teach one man to pray than ten men to preach. ”
(Charles Spurgeon)

"Talking to men for God is a great thing, but talking to God for men is greater still."
(E.M. Bounds)

"Prayer strikes the winning blow; service is simply picking up the pieces."
(S.D. Gordon)

" If I fail to spend two hours in prayer each morning, the devil gets the victory through the day. I have so much business I cannot get on without spending three hours daily in prayer. "
(Martin Luther)

"Oh brother, pray; in spite of Satan, pray;
spend hours in prayer;
rather neglect friends than not pray;
rather fast, and lose breakfast, dinner, tea, and supper - and sleep too - than not pray.
And we must not talk about prayer, we must pray in right earnest.
The Lord is near. He comes softly while the virgins slumber."
(Andrew A. Bonar)

"Don’t pray when you feel like it.
Have an appointment with the Lord and keep it.
A man is powerful on his knees."
(Corrie ten Boom)

"We are too busy to pray, and so we are too busy to have power.
We have a great deal of activity, but we accomplish little;
many services but few conversions; much machinery but few results."
(Reuben Archer Torrey)

"The little estimate we put on prayer is evidence from the little time we give to it."
(E.M. Bounds)
